The life of Willam Shakespeare was a time when the women worked in te house and yard, and the men worked with the activites outdoors. In this period of time there were still festivals and fairs. At their fairs they had acrobats, jugglers, pedlars, games, freaks, bookstalls, puppet shows, pickpockets, pigs and oxen roasted whole, travelling troupes of actors, dancing, music, and the serious business of trading goods and gossip with one's neighbours. One of the biggest fairs was held every August in Smithfield, near London: Bartholomew Fair. Shakespear grew up in the time of midieval renaissance life.
